Wasn't Colin Powell Supposed To Be A Big Fat Liar?

To the surprise of no one, Colin Powell announced he was endorsing The One, but NOT because he's black. Uh-huh. Right. He said that it was because McCain and Palin were much too conservative for his sensitive nature. The guy who served as Reagan's National Security Advisor; earned his 2nd and 3rd stars under Reagan and 4th under Bush 41; who was named the first black Secretary of State by Dubya; who gave a speech at the 1996 Republican National Convention about why he was a Repub because of small government, lower taxes, national strength, etc., suddenly wakes up and decides that JOHN McCAIN - a RINO who is only garnering conservative support because of Moose-Slayer and Obama's fascist-socialism terrifies them more than McCain's liberalism - is too far to the right for him?!? Really?!?

The irony of this endorsement is that it's supposed to make Obama palatable to those afraid of Obama's appeasement proclivities, but that requires us to forget that Powell was supposed to be dragged to The Hague for war crimes trials along with Dubya, Cheney and the NRA for his testimony at the UN before the Iraq war. He was an accomplice to Dubya's "lying" and people dying; now he's the Oracle of Foggy Bottom reassuring us that Obama is OK. Uh-huh. Right. Waiting until 16 days before an election to endorse the guy in the lead is quite the profile in courage, innit?

Powell is a political operator who knows that people who move to the Left are hailed as heroes while people who go to the Right, like Joe Lieberman, are marked for social death. Many Republicans had hoped he'd run for President after he left the military even though he was too moderate for most and he's totally abandoned those folks in order to get in the back of Obama's bus. Truly a useless idiot.
