Celebrate Diversity!

I've added La Shawn Barber's blog to the permanent roll at right because she's been coming up with some really good stuff and y'all should check her out consistantly.

One of today's posts is about a story that flew under my radar despite having occurred in the next town over from mine.

Parents of son charged in beating may lose girl
Madison Hts. pair could lose daughter for delaying treatment for broken back; her brother faces charge.

MADISON HEIGHTS -- The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday will attempt to permanently end the parental rights of a Madison Heights couple who police say neglected to seek medical help for their daughter after her older brother allegedly beat her over her relationship with a non-Muslim boy.

The 15-year-old girl, who is a Madison Heights Lamphere High junior, suffered a broken back in the beating, according to court documents. The trial to determine whether parental custody rights should be terminated is set for Thursday before Oakland Circuit Judge Joan Young.

The girl's brother, Ahmad Abdelmomen, 21, is charged with aggravated assault in the April 29 incident at their home in Madison Heights. Abdelmomen is free on bond pending a July 13 preliminary hearing before Madison Heights 43rd District Judge Robert J. Turner.

"She complained of the injury to her parents, but they didn't take her to a doctor because they condoned the punishment her brother gave her," said Robert Zivian, an assistant Oakland County prosecuting attorney assigned to the neglect case.

The following day, when the girl was still complaining of injuries, her parents called for an ambulance, according to Madison Heights Police Detective Sgt. Ron Hillman.

"She was in a lot of pain, and when she eventually went back to school, it was in a wheelchair," Hillman said. "It was too painful for her to stand for any period of time."

The girl initially told hospital workers she fell, Hillman said. After being questioned by police, she admitted that her brother had beaten her because he was upset over her relationship with a boy who was not of their religious faith, Hillman said.

"She wrote me a two-page statement about how both her brother and her parents disapproved of the situation," he said. "She wrote that's what prompted the beating in the first place."

The girl was placed in temporary foster care following the incident, Zivian said.

"Now she is recanting the original story and also claiming she fell down some stairs," Zivian said.

Yep. That lovely "religion of peace" in action. Yet, the Left still foments anti-Catholic bigotry because there aren't women priests. Also, while we're running Christian symbols of government property, we're expected to show tolerance for these medieval savages who practive barbaric "Sharia Law" and brutalize women.

Where are the feminists? Oh, that's right, they're protesting a Catholic Church somewhere. My bad.

Here some links to "liberal" organizations regarding the treatment of women in Islamic countries. This is but a handful of the information available from these groups. Had you bothered to ANY reasearch on this subject, you would find that "liberals" despise the way Islam treats women. Regarding the case you posted about, it is up to the authorities involved to decide what punishment is suitable. Personally, I hope the authorities decide to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. It is abhorable to use any religion as an excuse to violate human rights or perpetuate discrimination.

Regarding your repeated attempts to pin the "religion of peace" quotes on to liberals, I give you this....

Now, I realize that you will probably claim Bush is a liberal, but your continual defense of him says otherwise.

Thanks for the links (you do know you have a bunch of typos in your responses, don't you - hypocrite) but it's hard to believe Amnesty International anymore when they called Gitmo a "gulag" and then tried to convince a genuine gulag prisoner of conscience to bolster their libels.

Maybe you should tell Gloria Steinem about these links as well. She seems convinced that she's living under Sharia Law.

Too bad you're such a blind partisan that you don't notice that I've REPEATEDLY bashed Dubya for the "religion of peace" inanity. As I wrote here - http://dirkworld.blogspot.com/2005/05/why-no-riots-for-hollywood.html:

Some of the examples not included here are actually kinda funny to me, but the overall point is still valid: Christians are slagged in a way that Jews and Muslims would NEVER be. I guess that's because Jews can play the Holocaust card and everyone's afraid that the Muslims will swear a fatwah - that's "holy death warrant" for those of you unfamiliar with the "religion of peace" (as dumbass Dubya said) - and get killed.

I've properly called out the Dems for their treasons and seditions, but the "religion of peace" line has been aimed 110% of the time at Dubya, architect of this unrealistic and dangerous myth.

So, where's this supposed defense of Dubya? My only comments that could be charitably warped into being considered a "defense" have been those knocking down the outrageous lies of Moore et al. With all the REAL mistakes, errors and bad judgements made by Team Dubya, the fact that Dean, Moore, Franken, Rhodes and Co. persist in attcking him on the BOGUS and FABRICATED LIES (like "Farginghype 7-11") only allows the Administration to get away with their mistakes because they can honestly say they're the victims of a Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy.

Since you're obviously a liberal, you should be trying to rein in your pols instead of trying to silence the messenger. It's not my fault Turban Durbin is a f*cking traitor to the country - I'm just spreading the word. The moment they quit commiting treason is the day I can go back to obsessing about jailbait golfers and whine about all the video games and DVDs I've got that I don't have time to play and watch.
