I read the article about Elaine's that this case was based on and have told others about how Polanski supposedly was dealing on chicks on his way to Tate's funeral.
However, Vanity Fair's editor, Graydon Carter, expressed amazement at the decision, telling reporters outside the court:
"As a father of four children, one of them a 12-year-old daughter, I find it ... outrageous that this story is considered defamatory given the fact that Mr. Polanski cannot be here because he slept with a 13-year-old girl a quarter of a century ago.
Not only did he get an Oscar lately; he's getting an check for being a pig. Nice work if you can get it. :-\
