Talk Radio = Pornography To Fascist Dems!

You've got to respect the naked displays of hunger to stomp their jackboot of fascism down the Democrats are showing in anticipation of having total rule over the nation. Whether it's Barney Frank's desire to slash our military and rob the successful of their earnings or Chuck Schumer's belief that political speech should be treated the same as pornography, it's not as if we didn't have plenty of warning as to what they had in mind for us, their subjects.

Anyone else notice the irony in this comment:

“The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that… But you can’t say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That’s not consistent.”
Aren't the libertine liberals the ones who think the bluenoses should STFU and GTFO in criticizing porn? He's using the restrictions of explicit sexual content as an excuse to stifle dissenting speech. If conservatives tried to shut the Left up under this rationale, the Left would have kittens. I don't recall any moralists demanding that Air AmeriKKKa be regulated under porn laws. They just didn't listen. Funny how the supposedly tolerant and diversity-loving liberals can't turn the radio off themselves.

Dems To Non-Dems: "Die In A Hurricane!!!"

That the fascist Democrats are opposed to free speech from their ideological foes is ancient news as immutable as the wetness of water and the sun rising in the East. Well, not content to try and stifle inconvenient truths being spoken against them, they are now placing residents of Florida's Broward County in harms way from hurricanes because they refuse to broadcast on the highest-rated news/talk station because they also broadcast Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. As Hugh Hewitt writes:

And so we reach the inevitable end of the left’s campaign against the First Amendment. The Democrats in Broward County have officially declared themselves as the anti-free speech party. Commissioner Ritter is to be applauded for her candor, for declaring openly what elected Democrats across the country mutter quietly to themselves: “Rush, Sean and the rest must be silenced!”

I have heard of brass-knuckled politics before, but never anything on the order of denying your political opponents news of approaching hurricanes.

When Katrina struck, some wild-eyed lefties accused President Bush of denying relief efforts to New Orleans because the city was predominantly African-American.

Now we have actual proof of Democrats wanting to keep conservatives in the dark about approaching storms.

WIOD is the big news-talk voice on the block in south Florida –the news/talk ratings giant in the region. Those of us in the business know such things. If you want to get the word out about breaking news, you go to WIOD, first. It is where people in the area turn for bulletins.

Professionals tend to be cold-eyed about data, and the data says one thing: If you want to warn south Florida about the approach of a hurricane, you’d better get the message on WIOD.

The facts ought to be telling the Broward County lefties that they are putting politics ahead of the public interest.

Any serious law professor will also tell the Broward County bigs that what they have done is a blatantly unconstitutional punishment of speech. To bestow a benefit or inflict a punishment on the basis of the political perspective of the citizens involved is outrageous and will be condemned by any serious student of the First Amendment.

What’s next: Instructing the Broward County Fire Department to refuse calls from homes with Romney or Giuliani signs in the yard?

This absurd action from Broward County Democrats is a sign of desperation on the left. Air America has failed. The MSM is bleeding readers and viewers. Tony Blair has produced a scathing indictment of how the left-wing elite media operates. Fox News is thriving. Townhall.com is surging. The blogs of the center-right –from Instapundit, Powerline, and Michelle Malkin through the young college student who just fired up their new site yesterday—are growing and not just in visitors but also in the ability to persuade and not merely enrage. The new media world favors facts and well-made arguments, and the center-right has those, in abundance.

Which means the palsied arguments of the left are going to lose. Which means the left is going to try and stop the discussion, try and censor the debate, try and clamp down on speech.
And if you can't shut them up, you can hope a hurricane kills them.

Tuesday Morning Coffee

SEAN PENN: (UN)AMERICAN IDIOT - For a long time, Spicoli has been able to get some slack for his rabidly insane anti-American lunacy - so brilliantly spoofed in "Team America" - because he's managed to ride on the "Greatest Actor of Our Generation" title, though it's arguable in the face of his recent porcine performances since winning an undeserved Oscar for "Mystic River". (He was far better and less mannered in "21 Grams" that year; that would've been an OK win.)

I don't really care enough to dig up links to his latest screed demanding that unless the Bush Twins are in uniform, then they can't support Daddy Dubya's policies, along with various other moonbat ravings, but it just shows how effing stupid these Hollyweird libtards are. How much artistic freedom - and freedom to mouth off against the government - does dumbass think he'll have under Sharia Law? Hey, bub, let's shut the f*ck up, mmmkay?

SOLDIER NEEDS RESCUE! - Take a look at this photo op of Hillary! with a soldier:

See the crossed fingers? That's the signed used by soldiers being exploited for propaganda purposes to indicate that they are being coerced. Read about it and wonder how America will be secure with this anti-military harridan as Commander-in-Chief of an armed forces that knows that they're despised by the boss.

THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE MEAT - Anyone who watches VH1 Classic for more than 20 minutes will recognize this one. "Dun-dun-dun-DUN...and I would do anything for love..." ARGH!!!!! And what's the deal with Eddie Trunk?

IT'S MILLER TIME - I was surprised to hear while driving home that my local conservative talk station has shifted Michael Savage from his live slot to a 10pm-1am slot and replaced him with Dennis Miller's new show. (Larry Elder disappears from the station now) I didn't hear enough to tell if Miller is going to be able to cut it in this format and his slobbering shilling for Rudy Giuliani is likely going to quickly wear thin.

Rudy was on the show and he said something that confirmed his utter inadequacy for the gig of President by saying that Islamofascist countries like Iran will eventually want to join the global economy? Uh, Rudy? No, they don't. They want to reestablish a 7th Century Caliphate and end Western Civilization. To think they're in it for the money is to reveal that even after 9/11 - you remember that one, dontcha? - some people just aren't getting it.

BANNED FROM NEW YORK, IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT! - Here's a list (ganked from Wikipedia) of stars barred from performing on Lorne Michaels' House of Horrors:

Fear was banned from playing again after the 1981 Halloween episode. With Donald Pleasence as host, the band played that night by request from Fear fan John Belushi, and they proceeded to play offensive songs ("I Don't Care About You" and "Beef Balogna" among others) and bus in "dancers". The band also used obscene language and the dancers destroyed the set with their slam dancing onstage. The situation was out of control to the extent that the damage of studio equipment forced Dave Wilson to end the three-song performance by cutting the audio and video to a commercial as they started to play "Let's Have a War" .

Note: The episode has not been rebroadcast on NBC.
I think I saw part of this on Comedy Central, but it's notable because some friends of my girlfriend were in that mob.

DIRK'S DISH DU JOUR - I've been playing Tomb Ho: Legend to score some easy achievement points and to see how it compared to the PC version that I played for a review about a year ago, so here's a twofer babe shot of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

Jolie refused to wear Lara's trademark short shorts beyond the first scene of that mediocre movie and I can't figure why - she's even hawter than usual in 'em.
